Application FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

>> When is the normal intake for Murdoch's Veterinary Science course?

The majority of students commence in February (Semester 1), however based on exemptions awarded for previous tertiary studies, some students; both Australian residents and internationals, are eligible to commence in July (Semester 2).

>> How do I apply for a place?

At the time of applying, applicants are required to complete an International Student Application Form for Undergraduate Study AND submit with this a statement of approximately 500 words indicating why they wish to become a veterinarian; how they consider their past study and experiences to be relevant to this; and why they think they will succeed in the course. A curriculum vitae and written references are also invited if relevant.

Successful applicants will normally have a strong background in Science (namely Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics and/or Biology).

Complete the Application Form and submit your application through one of the University’s Representatives (agents) in your home country. If no representative is available, or you are already studying in Australia, please submit your application to Murdoch International at:

If you are a school leaver, you are expected to have completed an appropriate school leaving certificate/matriculation or a recognized post-secondary qualification. Because the actual grades or scores required for entry may vary each year, you are advised to consult Murdoch International for further details.

Applicants who have completed post-secondary qualifications such as a Diploma from an overseas polytechnic or a Diploma from an Australian Technical and Further Education (TAFE) institution or similar qualification are encouraged to apply. International students may also wish to transfer from another Australian institution. Inquiries about the status of these qualifications should be made to the Admissions Officer in Murdoch International.

>> How much are the tuition fees?

International students in Australia are required to pay tuition fees. At Murdoch University your tuition fee is guaranteed to remain fixed for the normal duration of your studies. For more details about the fees refer to : Murdoch International Fee schedules.

>> Can I be exempted from any course?

Yes you can be exempted, especially if you have a degree already. It is time consuming, but well worth it in order to not have a heavy courseload while you are adjusting to your new life. You will need to have your transcripts, and course sylabus. My recommendation is to give as much information as you can about the course you have taken. If you can, bring it with you to Australia and hand it to the appropriate party. The more information you have for your case the better your chances are. Visit http://choose.murdoch.edu.au/accred/ for more information.
